VR2–Whimsies Attic

Initially I think I am interested in playing the role in composition. I move on to do foley sounds as no body seems interested in doing it… In a group project VS individual project, it is always helpful to take a step back and see what is we are lacking of at the moment as a whole.

And I always find a bit difficult if I do not know what to do… I need a direct route to follow…

“Current technologies for sound spatialization in virtual reality focus mostly or exclusively on the headphone experience. While this may be the most ideal environment for accurate perception of sound location, a binaural or even stereo mix leaves the audience out of the immersive audio world. A solution to this problem lies in the spatialization of sound over larger speaker arrays, or “surround” sound. “

Ambisonics is described by David Malham and Anthony Myatt as “essentially a twopart technological solution to the problems of encoding sound directions (and amplitudes) and reproducing them over practical loudspeaker systems so that listeners can perceive sounds located in three-dimensional space.”

Techniques,” Computer Music Journal 19, no. 4 (Winter 1995): 62.

Sound is crucial when it comes to creating a believable VR experience. Spatialized
audio replicates how sound waves interact with the environment as well as your
head and ears, so that you really feel like you’re in the virtual world.

The pictures below demonstrated how I was prepared for the next week’s presentation:) P1 is my little contribution to the teamwork… I think the reason why I find myself a bit lagging is because the reference has been popping up to my mind is more like exhibitions, installations and illustrations instead of games. I try to play otogarden in my spare time, but I find myself foolish instead of watching Teeze playing it…

I am awkwardly watching this on the train to Yorkshire…I think the audience experience would be something important to consider. And the age of audience. That’s why there are a lot of questionaires were making beforehand…

I went to Yorkshire as one of my paintings was participating in the exhibition, and recorded the forest ambience. I felt a bit isolated as it was so quiet in yorkshire than london. I could hear my footsteps clearly with crunchy leaves…
