Portfolio WEEK3 Moushumi Bhowmik #Ins Element2
The Travelling Archive is like an open room filled with songs and stories, with doors and windows on all sides; people come, stay, go out for a smoke, come back, or they don’t.

I found Travelling Archive Record intriguing not only because it is a record label which comes out of field recordings made in the course of our continuing journey through Bengal and other connected places, but also the beauty of Indian languages. “I loved the “Song – E jonomer moto”Chandrabati Roy Barman, Sushoma Das – Field Recordings from SylhetCHANDRABATI ROY BARMAN” which was in her album:

চন্দ্রাবতী রায় বর্মণ ও সুষমা দাশ

I don’t know the language (what does that mean? what is the emotion behind it?) but it is nice to listen. It has a historical identity behind it. In my portfolio2, I asked people to share about their favourite music as well as the music which could represent the area they are living in. People sharing their songs in their own languages which makes the project have its own sense. Otherwise, it feels like the “English” is having too much dictatorship.
