Portfolio Element 1 Composition Mixing

Following the process last year, I firstly proceeded the mixing in stereo and checked every files would sound good in stereo. I put a lot of effort on automate expression and modulation on midis in virtual instruments. I also concentrated on taking the noise in the vocal bits using RX de crackle and RX de breathe. ERA cleaning assistant is also a good tool to proceed with those vocals blending with ambiences like supermarkets. To be honest, I am not a big fan with reverb and delay, so most of the time I am just putting them as a colouring tool and keep their original tastes…
After every track sounds quite clean I loaded them into 108, I think it would be good to keep a version of octophonic because standard theatre venues are always looking for 5.1 or quadrophonic sound designs. So Octophonic would make my puppetry show easier if I am planning to do a performance mode. Most of my tracks are either recorded by ambisonic microphone or designed to have front and back sounds, so stereo could not be satisfied in this area. There were especially two tracks, one was simulated the concert, and the other one is the stadium (which the person is riding a horse) really needed the sound to be spatialised.
I used a lot of GRM spaces on moving sounds such as drums and harps. I used GRM grams on loads of voices, played with its random delay sounds fun. I used GRM filters on exploring texture sounds because I am able to move frequencies in different speakers. GRM space 3D tool was something I just found out this semester, compared with the 2D circle, this one made the sound floating in the air.
