Portfolio Element 2 Scrutinise into private and public spaces
This is the inspiration of my element 2, which demonstrates why I am interested in and curious in exploring sounds in public spaces as well as sound mapping. A personal side of me is that I love peeking and discovering people, which might because I always feel like “I am being scrutinised and starred”. The struggle of being scrutinised and scrutinising others make me feel uncomfortable and isolated. Lots of time I just feel like I belong to nowhere and I am drifting like liquid…
I will explain later in the blog post how this relates to “Paris syndrome“, I mean, as an international student, I kind of always having a feeling of homeless and drifting… After 2 years of being studied in UAL, I came back to China and kinda of feeling lost there… I feel like “communication in Chinese” and “Chinese habits” are in a outdated mode to me… I sensitive feeling that I am not belonging to china anymore… And what about London? A dream city? Well it was… UAL was my dream school… But living here is such a crucial idea…
We are always being expected to become successful after putting too much efforts, money and time on study internationally… But what is in real time and real life? As art students, once we finished our study, what could we do?
